| Indie music WHEN PEOPLE have surfeited on trendy songs which practically sound the same, I delight myself in the cool and eccentric sounds of indie music. Some people ask me about the artists who I like and I would say The Black Keys, St. Vincent or Sun Kil Moon, among others, and they would just give me an agreeing nod. None of them (maybe except one) has ever been thrilled to hear the band or artist that I just mentioned. I do like mainstream but it seems faddish in a way that it is meant to eventually lose its fashion unlike indie which is ageless, of course. Indie would always sound new even though you have been listening to the same bands for the past weeks. Indie music is more versatile and original while mainstream music, in order to attract more sales or favor, tries to emulate what is pop. And for me pop has become overrated. And because of this frustration, I have decided to make mixtapes and this is the first one. I hope you would like it. 14 songs in 60 mins I'M STARTING the playlist with some groovy and rhythmic tracks that made me realize that life isn't mediocre at all and that there are better ways to express myself than through songs which are too club-ish or sentimental. And I think because of Taylor Swift, I am starting to have an aversion to electropop. (But I admit that I LSS on Blank Space.) # |
